Asha Sujith

Counsellor

Asha is a counsellor, supporting the Ethnic Minorities Well-being Centre at The Zubin Foundation (TZF). She is responsible for providing counselling support to the non-Chinese adolescents and adults in Hong Kong. Asha holds a MPhil in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s in Clinical and Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Community Mental Health. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), a member of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA), a registered clinical psychologist under the Rehabilitation Council of India. With a strong belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship, Asha adopts a client-centred approach, tailoring the sessions to meet each of her clients’ unique needs. She uses a variety of therapeutic counselling techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and solution-focused strategies to help clients navigate life’s challenges and achieve their personal goals. She is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. She has experience working with diverse populations, including children, adults and elderly and is specialized in areas such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting and family issues etc. Her holistic approach emphasizes not only emotional well-being but also personal growth and resilience. Asha has above 10 years of professional experience, She previously worked as the Assistant Manager for a mental health project and has worked with non-refoulment claimants and refugees who have demonstrated a range of vulnerabilities. In India, she worked as a clinical psychologist. She can conduct counselling sessions in English, Malayam, Tamil and Hindi. In addition to her clinical work, Asha is passionate about doing community outreach, mental health education and workshops.
